Re: Skype: Add Contact - Check Your Connection.....

Didn't help at all. Is there any fix at all or should I switch to something else?

Re: Skype: Add Contact - Check Your Connection.....

The problem is that every time I press "Add a contact" I get the "You don't seem to have an active internet connection" error, although I'm online.

Check if your Internet Explorer is not set to "Work offline" mode. Try to open this page in your Internet Explorer:

https://apps.skype.com/friendfinder

I haven't used IE at all, never gonna use it too. And no, it's not in offline mode.

IE doesn't open that app page.

Neither does FF. This is the error I get in FF:

Secure Connection Failed

An error occurred during a connection to apps.skype.com.
SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length.

(Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long)

Re: Skype: Add Contact - Check Your Connection.....

What kind of Internet connection are you using? Is it private or corporate (office or similar)? If you do a search on Google for your error message (ssl_error_rx_record_too_long) you will find a lot of posts, all related to problems with network configuration. You may try with resetting Internet Explorer settings, but probably the problem is in the network configuration.

As long as you cannot access secure connection pages (https://) with your Internet Explorer, several Skype functions will not be available for you.

I can access all secure connections (https://) normally, I haven't changed any network settings since I have my network connection, for more than a year. Haven't had such problems before. Just found out about this problem 2 days ago, when I tried to add a new friend on skype. 2 weeks ago I didn't have this issue.

Re: Skype: Add Contact - Check Your Connection.....

I have had this exact problem for a few days now too. Actually I tried to add someone as a contact from a different machine. Hasn't worked so far... Also, the https://apps.skype.com/friendfinder/ link loads fine, but finds no one.

Bloody irritating!
