Just to clarify something:
I experienced the issue of not being able to log in with a Microsoft account on Skype version 188.8.131.52, which is the reason this topic was opened by me.
Since then, Skype have released a beta which is version 6.5,0.107. Please note this is still a BETA and NOT an official release. The problem I was having is fixed in the beta
However, Skype have ALSO released an update which has fixed the problem I was experiencing. The new OFFICIAL RELEASE version is 184.108.40.206 and is the version you get when downloading the Skype for Windows installer.
My issue has been fixed. If you are experiencing a different issue, may be best to open a new thread. I have not seen a mod or super user post in this topic lately.
You can revert to the previous 6.2 version using this msi-installer:
However, the Skype crash may be due to some problems with your Windows system.
Open Windows Event Viewer -> Custom Views -> Administrative Events. Look for any recent error messages with timestamp corresponding to Skype crash. You may copy and paste hee the text from the General tab.
I have exactly the same problem with the 6.3, as described just before.
2 seconds after it opens it crashes.
I placed back the 6.2 version .... no problems with that version.
I confirm that there are some problems with Skype 6.3.xx.xxx (ver. 220.127.116.11 and 18.104.22.168). The main window appears very late after connecting ... Please fix this bug.
I use WinXP SP3 + update daily.
I wonder if the problem exists with Internet Explorer 10 and Skype? Seeing as both programs were updated recently and Skype depends on some elements of IE?
Can also you login to Skype using Skype ID but not with Messenger account?
