I'm running Win7 Ulitmate on my ThinkPad and Skype 220.127.116.11 is not signing me inn.
I have verified my Skype Name and password (works fine in Skype on my Android - wich actually saved me for a US call yesterday ). After entering name / psw, I hit the "Sign me in" button and the client starts working but never gives any feedback.
Internet browsers works fine (both IE & Chrome) and I just streamed some Norwegian radio.
I have reinstalled Skype, I have deleted temp files in the Skype directory, I have checked my local firewall, I have checked our enterprice firewall, I have used both wireless and cable to our LAN, I have re-booted my laptop x number of times.
Anything more I could do or check to debug this? Is there any debug mode for this client?

This WILL delete ALL Skype history!
Please make sure that as impossible as it seems that there is no Skype.exe running, you can do this by starting the Windows Task Manager keyboard keys all at once CTRL ALT DEL, click the processese tab, we need to make sure that there are no running Skpe.exe processes or SkypeSetup...exe running processes, if ou see any please select then, and click the "End Process" button for each of them.
NOTE: Revo creates a restore point and does a full registry backup as well, automatically.
Please install this, please note that you will need to copy/paste the link below into the browser window of your choice:
Once Revo is installed, if it did not start, please start it.
From the Revo main window please do:
Commands -> Forced Uninstall
Please make sure the Advanced Radio Button is checked.
Next in the "Programs Exact Name" please enter:
Please click the next button. Note it can take some time for this to complete.
Once completed, please press the "Scan" button to look for anything that might still be left over from prior Skype installs.
Please click the "Select All" button, and then the "Delete" button.
You may be presented with files and flolders left over, again, Please click the "Select All" button, and then the "Delete" button.
Please Exit Revo and Reboot.
Please now install the normal release, again you will need to copy/paste the link below into the browser window of your choice, please save the download to your C: drive, once downloaded please run the installer from your hard drive:
I have now followed your script to the point, but still get no signing in.
After I insert my userid and psw, the clients singing-in indicator just rolls and rolls. The client is not in a hang or something. I can click in the menu and close it down, but then the system tray ikon will remain until I kill it from the windows tasklist (ctrl-alt-del).
I have been having the same problem (but with Vista). It sometimes will take me about 6-7 tries before skype will actually let me sign in. And other times, it will sign in on first attempt. It's really bugging me.

Before trying to isolate an issue, it's always best that one is running the latest Skype release. Which may in itself resolve the issue.
A new version has just been released August 02, 2011:
Please click the "Get Skype" link at the top of this page and download the normal version of Skype, NOT the beta version to get this new version.
This new version is 18.104.22.168 to check what version you have, using the main Skype client window please do:
Help -> About Skype
Please follow these Steps:
1. Only do Step 1 if you are on WIN7:
Be sure that Compatibility Mode is not enabled (right-click on Skype shortcut icon/launcher and select Properties >> Compatibility) - for Windows 7 users only.
Try to launch Skype.
2. If Step 1 fails or you are NOT using WIN7 do:
Open an Internet Explorer browser, and go to msn.com, what happens?
If it fails, Please do the instructions below. Using your Windows Control Panel, please do:
Internet Options -> Advanced Tab Please click the "Reset" button.
Then, Go to the Connections Tab.
Make sure that the only checkbox checked is "Automatically detect settings", then click the "OK" button.
Close any open Internet Explorer browser windows, open a new IE browser window and try msn.com again. What happens? If it works, please stop/start Skype What happens?
3. If Step 2 does NOT solve the problem:
Please install the normal version using the instructions below:
You can install the Current release by doing this from the top of this page:
Get Skype -> Windows -> Choose the regular release, please do NOT remove what you already have installed, simply, install over.
These instructions have worked for many and is the quickest thing to try to resolve issues such as this.
Also, what operating system are you on?
What is the Make and Model of your computer?
Do you have all Windows updates and updates to any hardware devices by the manufacturers?
New development: When I boot up my ThinkPad z61p Win7 at home, Skype 5.5 logs in fine. Brought it back to work in hybernate mode and started up, it worked fine. Just now I had to boot at work, and then I have the problem again. "Signing in" never completes.
