SKYPE HOME UNAVAILABLE

Hi, I get this message immediately after logging in to Skype. This has been happening for the past 3 days (my login and password are correct):

Skype Home unavailable

Skype home is unavailable at the moment. Check back later to see your news and alerts.

I am therefore unable to Skype call any of my friends as all their statuses indicate unavailable, although they are.

Re: SKYPE HOME UNAVAILABLE

If you're not already running it, try the current beta version, 5.7.0.137.  You can download the installer here:  www.skype.com/go/getskype-beta

If the problem persists, make sure you can browse websites in Internet Explorer, even if IE isn't your default browser.  Skype uses IE for some functions and IE cannot be in work offline mode for Skype to function.

If you can browse normally with IE, clear IE's cache.  In IE click on Tools > Internet Options > General > Browsing history > Delete.

Did that correct the Skype problem?

First Check your connection status.

If your connection status is "Offline" , try to change it to "Online"

After That, Try Below:

Here is a Mr. FixIT:

How to reset Internet Explorer settings

Run This First. See if it resolves the issue. If Not,

Here is another Mr. FixIT

How to reinstall or repair Internet Explorer in Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP

Click the Run Now button.

Reboot.

Then, Download and Reinstall the new Skype 5.7 beta version.

Check if the issue persists.

Re: SKYPE HOME UNAVAILABLE

Hi

I posted my solution elsewhere also. I fixed my problem on both my XP and windows 7 PCs. Uninstall Skype, delete data and program folders reinstall Reinstall skype, DO NOT CHECK "sign me in when Skype Starts" on opening page. Its a pain to type in your password each time but it fixed the problem for me. If you can uncheck "sign me in when Skype Starts" the problem might also be fixed for the next and subsequent start ups.

Re: SKYPE HOME UNAVAILABLE

I followed your recommendations but still get the same message "Skype home is unavailable ---"

I noticed when I removed the program and all files with "Skype" in their name then reinstalled the beta version that my ID, password, and contacts from the previous install remained.  That suggests that everything was not deleted.  Are there other files/folders that I should remove?

Re: SKYPE HOME UNAVAILABLE

Uninstalling/re-installing Skype will change nothing.

Is your connection status on Skype Online? The status icon must be solid green with a white checkmark inside. Try to change the status using the dropdown arrow next to this icon.
