Profile picture disappeared with upgrade Skype

Yesterday, I did an update of Skype (offered when I logged in to Skype), but now my profile picture has disappeared!!! How can I get it back???

I can't re-create the picture, because I do not have access to its original source. So I really want it back. And, I don't understand why Skype messes-up my profile with an upgrade?

Re: Profile picture disappeared with upgrade Skype

only a copy of the original image is used as your profile picture, and it may not be possible to recover it that it is gone

you can contact Customer Support to ask if there is a possibility to recover
https://support.skype.com/faq/FA1170?intcmp=SN-Mods

as for why your profile picture was deleted, I think you may have taken a wrong option during the upgrade, but that is water under the bridge

Skype now uses the profile image a bit differently than in the past (to allow it to be re-sized properly, and to show better resolution under some circumstances, so there was valid reason to re-establish your profile picture during the upgrade

it is unfortunate that you no longer have access to the source image file
