I opened skype, it downloaded and installed an upgrade, I text-messaged a friend, it said the message was delivered. Then when I tried to close skype (not close, of course, the twits don't think you're smart enough to really mean close when you tell it to close), i.e. click the X at the top right of the window, the whole computer locked up; had to hard-reset. Didn't happen in the previous (before this "upgrade") version.

Having the same problem, Skype crashed my Win64 system immediately after the update to 18.104.22.168, including taskbar completely freezes, special Windows Key doesn't even bring up Start Menu, cursor just sits and spins when over the taskbar (which I would assume is the explorer.exe instance). Is there anyway to call up Skype Support? Seems to be the hardest thing to find an actual "Contact Us" page with a phone number to call Support... coming from a Communications Company!!!!
Tried going back to version 6.2.x.x after uninstalling 6.3.x.x, but no luck, 6.2 does the same thing now...
If anybody has come across a solution to this, please respond. Thanks!
Try to uninstall the currently installed version and install the older 22.214.171.124 version using this msi-installer:
After installing this version, make sure to disable the Automatic updates:
Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Automatic updates ->Turn off automatic updates
There is already a bug report on this issue submitted to Jira.
The only working solution seems to be to revert to the older Skype 126.96.36.199 version.

I'm having the same issue. Can't click anything on the desktop or the task bar. However, if a window is already open, I can interact with it without a problem.
Also, I've noticed if I sign out (not exit Skype) the problem disappears.
Running Windows 7 64-bit.
EDIT: reverted to 6.1, and it works fine.
