I can no longer see an option to disable Skype from starting up automatically when Windows starts up.
Why is that? Are Micro$oft trying to drive their customers away and turn Skype into $kype? For me this is an annoying deal breaker. Does anyone see how to disable Skype via its own settings? I don't want to be playing with registry settings too much.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Go to, Tools >> Options... >> Uncheck the "Start Skype When I Start Windows"
I didn't realise that there are more options available from the "Tools" menu when we log onto our accounts, so I kept trying but the setting never contained the "startup" checkbox I wanted. In the end, I had to uninstall Skype.
Thank you, Tamim. Your method has completely solved my problem.
I have faced the similar problem and i have resolved by going to the Start menu>>Run>>msconfig>>services tab>> disabling Skype Updater and Skype C2C service.
and then restarted.
Can I also ask how to disable auto-start of Skype V 18.104.22.168? There is no choice like "start skype..." which is shown in the earlier version.
I would be grateful for an advice.
That version happens to be test build of the previous release. As such, some things are missing and unique to that version. Please update to the latest standard release of the software:
