I am currently running a Windows 7 Home Premium laptop, 64-bit operating system.
Prior to yesterday, Skype has always ran smoothly with very little lag or issue. However, when I tried updating Skype to the most recent version (220.127.116.11), my computer froze so I uninstalled Skype. Whenever I try to reinstall it, it doesn't install... It keeps giving me this error:
Error writing to file: C:\ProgramData\Skype\Apps\login\languages\ar.js
Verify if you have access to this directory
To top it off, when I try to install it causes my laptop to lag horribly
I've ran McAfee SecurityCenter to see if it's a virus causing my problems. There are no viruses on my computer and at this point I'm not sure what to do
Solved! Go to Solution.
Nevermind, I solved it
I believe the solutions may have been a combination of registry cleanup apps and CHKDSK, but ultimately I feel like CHKDSK solved the problem
Regardless, the problem is solved and I can finally use Skype!
