Hi I have a problem with my skype. When I try to share screen with someone, the screen sharing lasts for a second then stops itself. I can't get it to work. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate x64
I have enough bandwith to run simple screen sharing and I have done this before but recently it stopped working. Last time I tried to use it I think was a month or two ago and it worked perfectly. I havent changed anything on my computer from then. I tried to reinstall skype but that didn't work.
Edit: I'm using skype version 18.104.22.168
Solved! Go to Solution.
Try to uninstall the currently installed version and install the older 22.214.171.124 version using this msi-installer:
After installing this version, make sure to disable the Automatic updates:
Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Automatic updates ->Turn off automatic updates
Sharing this solution across several threads to help people with the same problem out:
My screen sharing stopped working two updates ago. Here's what fixed the problem in my case.
I didn't have a webcam connected. As soon as I plugged in a webcam, screen sharing started working again. I assume for some weird reason, Skype needs to recognize a webcam to be there know it's turned off so sceen sharing works, since screensharing + video is not allowed for non-premium users anymore.
I really want to like this program, but this is the latest in a long series of anecdotes that really piss me off.
In addition to that, now my chat screen disappears when I click on the + button for file sharing etc???? WHO THOUGHT THAT WAS A GOOD IDEA.
