Can't Find Display / Profile Picture

You might not know this but your display picture will stay on even after you delete the original file what happened was I got few pictures of me on my computer including my display and I had to reformat recently and I forgot to back my pictures and now I don't have them I wanted to make my display picture for Facebook my Skype picture, but I don't have the picture anymore however its my Skype picture is still the same even after so the makes me think its still stored somewhere on the Skype network so was wondering is there someway to get your display picture off of Skype if its not on your computer.

Ok, this is a lttle tricky.

Please install this utility I created called SEHE, it can be removed at any time using your Control Panel Add/Remove programs:

http://saveontelephonebills.com/skype/SEHE/publish.htm

Once SEHE is installed and approved to run, enter this command in the Command Text window;

GET AVATAR 1 C:\SaveMyPic.jpg and use you enter/return key

You current Avatar picture will now be located at C:\SaveMyPic.jpg

You can also use a IP Camera as your camera for Skype video Example Instructions

Re: Can't Find Display / Profile Picture

Fantastic. This works in VB6.

Dim mSkype as New Skype

mSkype.Settings.SaveAvatarToFile "D:\MySkypePic.jpg"

Thanks a lot.

P.S. Is there a similar method for User’s avatar?

Yep.

GET USER <skypename> AVATAR 1 <filename>

NOTE: Use .jpg file extension.

GET USER theuberoverlord AVATAR 1 c:\theuberoverlord.jpg

NOTE: Skype4COM does not have support for this so it needs to be a raw API command.

You can also use a IP Camera as your camera for Skype video Example Instructions

Maybe you don't have write access to the C:\ folder, try saving it in some other folder.

Most likely you don’t have permission to save to root of C-drive. Try another folder. You can also make use of this VBScript:
