The problem is most likely the fact that you have a very old graphic driver which is not supported by the new version of Skype. The graphic card manufacturer, S3 Graphics Inc., has actually discontinued any support for these graphic cards. I’m afraid, that you may have to revert to older Skype version, which was still working with S3 Graphics video adapter.

Re: Cam is not Viewing .. black screen coming

If your friend can see your video, then nothing is wrong with your webcam. What do you see if in Skype you go to Tools -> Options -> Video settings? If you can’t see the video on your Skype, then something is wrong with the graphic card driver or maybe you need to update your DirectX. Which Service Pack is your Windows XP with? You can get more information on your DirectX installation and graphic card by running DirectX diagnostics. Go to Windows Start and the Run box type daxdiag.exe, press OK button. Note the version of DirectX displayed on the screen and run all the tests.

Re: Cam is not Viewing .. black screen coming

Right click on Computer (or My Computer) icon, select Properties and then Device Manager. You can also do this by Windows Control Panel -> Device Manager.

When in Device Manager, find Display adapters, expand this item and double click on the name of the shown adapter. Select the Driver tab. You will see there the version of installed driver.

All this information should have also been available when you have run the dxdiag.exe test.
