How long will it take to add push notifications!!! That is the greatest deficiency in Skype. It is very disappointing that this feature has not been added.

Without it, Skype is nothing for smartphone users.
Why does Skype let Viber catch up with itself? I cannot understand...

Untill now at the end of year 2012, Skype has announced that it was to replace Live Messenger and on ACCLAIMED Microsoft's super Windows Phone 8 OS, still nothing was happened to push notification.
I don't quite understand your statement. The Skype for Windows Phone 8 preview app supports push notification for receiving chats and calls while the app is not running. Presumably you're referring to the Windows Phone 7 version of the app (which is a long running and well discussed topic).

Hmm, I'm using Lumia 920 and there wasn't any push notifications came from Skype to my phone while I'm not running the app (I'm browsing the web using IE10) IM+ has push notification and it works.
Not sure what's the problem but surely, there are none of push notification from Skype to me.
I'm using Wifi connection.

After third installation of Skype on my phone and every first time run the app I choose 'Yes' to the Enable toast notification but it still doesn't push a toast and message count number.
I, at last found the setting menu under the profile page, have to switch "Off" and "On" the toast notification setting and yes, it started to push.
Sorry for complain before a nice searching. Keep on good work.

The Skype for Windows Phone 8 Preview 2.1 update is now out and ready for you to install/upgrade. This fixes the notification/presence issues along other bugs as described in the blog post here: http://blogs.skype.com/garage/2013/01/skype_for_wi
You should simply need to upgrade/install from the Marketplace app, and then run the application to ensure that push notifications and the keep-alive agent are successfully registered.
