Call Failed no matter what we do.

Hi, my friend and I are both on skype, both are logged in, and yet we can't call each other. It always says "Call failed" and "No answer", but it never rings at the other end so we don't even get the option to answer a call. We even tried regular calling in case it was a problem with video calling. This happens no matter who we try to call. We both have brand new Dell laptops with Windows 7. Is there a way to fix this? Thanks.

What version of Skype to each of you have?  Click on Help > About Skype for the version number?

Are you seeing each other's status as online when you try to make the calls?

Have you tried the Echo / Sound Test?  If so, does that work for either of you?

Hi there

this really is an unacceptable situation.  I have the same problem as do a LOT of skype users - google "skype call failed" and you get a shed load of people all suffering the same woes.  Skype test works ok.  Latest version of Skype installed, MAC OSX. Can't call my wife and daughter in France.

Please fix this issue Skype, and do it fast!
