Each of you should try these steps to determine if you're both having a problem or, if not, which end is having it.
Click on Tools > Options > Audio settings. Is your webcam microphone showing in the Microphone select box? Does the bar under the mic select box show green boxes when you talk?
If you click on the green test button next to the Speaker box, do you hear a test sound come through?
And you both can make a test call to the Echo / Test site on your Contacts list. Do you hear your own recorded audio playing back?
