Hello, friends in Skype team,
I would like to ask you when, or whether you are going to expand the built in languages in Skype for Windows.
I have been translating Skype for Windows for 6 years to Slovak language from version 2.5 and as I know (from previous translator or others), everytime we tried to contact Skype team about adding Slovak language (Slovakia or Slovak republic = 5 million people country), they answered that they don't plan to add it to the build because of 1. too little users from Slovakia and/or 2. Skype team doesn't plan to add new languages to Skype now.
So... in the near future, is it any chance to get there Slovak language finally?
Thank you in advance for your interest and for your answer.

I recommend to download the latest Skype and search first.
To get the most out of Skype I recommend Skype Premium.

Hi again, Claudius,
a few days ago I saw that there is a new beta version of Skype for Windows. What I was happy to see was an included slovak language. However, I thought you won't do the translation on your own from the very beginning and just use the one that works more than 6 years.
How long did it take for you to translate it? From what I have seen so far, it is the "translation style" of Microsoft, isn't it? Why didn't you considerate to use existing slovak translation?
If you want, you can PM me. I would like to talk about this topic a little bit. Thank you for your answer.

You are right, the current Slovak translation in the client was created by a translation agency from Microsoft. Let me reach out to you in private so we can find a way to get your translation in.

Hello,
thanks for having the slovak translation in new version of skype.
But the translation is really poor. You mentioned professional agency having translated it?
Is there a way to correct it? I suppose nobody did really try it in live application. There are lot of unreasonable long translations like "Recent" (6 characters) is "Nedavna komunikacia" (19 chars), "Call phones" (11 chars) is "Volat na telefonne cisla" (24 chars). The translation is correct, but it's just way too long to appear in UI. You can get inspired by czech translation (as very similar language).

Hi sorgo,
if everything is ok, this translation which is in the Skype now, will be replaced by the one I make. Until then, you can download it from my website: vlbelicka.info/mytranslations.html
P. S.: (My) Slovak translation for Skype 6.0.0.120 will be released soon.
Ahoj sorgo,
Myslím si to isté, čo ty ![]()
