Suddenly I can't connect to skype. It sends me to a page with 'folders' in the browser. So I completely uninstalled and reinstalled skype. Right now it doesn't even give me the option to connect. I open skype and all I see is a blue screen (with the words skype and blue coulds at the bottom. ) Can anyone tell me what might be going on?
Many thanks

The problem is with your Internet Explorer and JavaScript.
Please, answer first these questions:
What version of Windows are you on? Is it 32-bit or 64-bit?
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/827218
Go to Windows Start and in the Search box type winver.exe and then press Enter.
What is the version of Internet Explorer installed on your computer?
In Internet Explorer go to Help -> About Internet Explorer.
P.S. Please, don’t say that you are not using Internet Explorer. This is irrelevant. Skype depends on Internet Explorer.

64 bit, (couldn't find this the way you suggested though..., but went into computer properties instead which said 64)
the internet explorer version: internet explore 9
Many thanks.

Try this:
Go to Windows Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Right click on Command Prompt, select 'Run as administrator'.
The Command Prompt window should show:
C:\Windows\SysWoW64>
If this is not the case, then in the Command Prompt type: cd c:\windows\syswow64 and press Enter.
Type this and then press Enter:
regsvr32 jscript.dll
Next type this and press Enter:
regsvr32 jscript9.dll
After each Enter you should receive a message saying that DllRegisterServer in XXX.dll succeeded.
Reboot your computer.
Make now the test showing if your Internet Explorer can execute JavaScript.
Open in your Internet Explorer (no other browser but only IE 32-bit version) this page:

Click on the “Simply Click This Button” button and watch the response.

thank you very much. After the reboot, skype decided it had enough of what it needed and started on it's own without me doing anything.
Again, many thanks. ![]()

Ive been having the same problem for quite a while. I couldn't help but notice that you mentioned that Skype runs on Internet Explorer. For a while now that has been playing up. When I click on it the box comes up but soon vanishes and refuses to load.
I was just wondering do you have a solution for this or is it possible to change the way Skype connects. I have been using Google Chrome for the last month if thats any help.
Thankyou.

Which browser you are using is totally irrelevant. For Skype working properly, you need a properly functioning Internet Explorer. What Windows version are you on and what is the version of IE currently installed? Maybe updating or reinstalling your IE can help.

I have purchased a card, and have received the comfirmation email. But when I am dialing the Chinese number I need to call, they still remind me that I don't have money in it, and need to buy a new card. I don't undertand where the problem is. Thanks!
