I ahve a home PC and a laptop. I have installed Skype on both but the laptop is going with a family member overseas while the PC stays at home. I am trying to set the home PC up with a different Skype profile so that we can call each other. I have uninstalled the original version of Skype and reinstalled it - and have set up a new user account. But Skype appears to automatically call up the original profile rather than the second one. I assume that is because it is somehow finding my "native" email address on my PC. Example I have a Telus email account as well as a gmail account. I set up my second Skype account under the gmail account - but as I say, the reinstalled Skype simply reverts to the first account settings ( the user name I set up against my usual Telus email account) and won't pick up the new profile. Anyone tried this??

Hi, nancyjavery,
I'm a PC on Skype 5.5.0.124. Please take a look at this: are the checkboxes on the Skype sign-on dialogue box both checked in: "Sign me in when Skype starts" and "Start Skype when computer starts" - ? Starting Skype when the computer starts is no problem, however the computer and Skype will memorize whose sign-in credentials were input when the "Sign me in when Skype starts" check-box is checked, and Eureka! You turn on your computer and you're automatically signed into Skype.
What to do: Uncheck the "Sign me in when Skype starts" and sign in as usual. Sign out, and re-boot the computer. If you left the "Start Skype when computer starts" box checked, Skype will launch during the boot-up process, and when you open Skype, you ought to land at the sign-in dialogue box where should be able to input your new user's sign-in credentials (user name and password).
This little procedure works for me. Let me know how it works for you!
Best regards,
Elaine

On the Mac version click on File > Sign out. That will bring up the signin window where you can uncheck Sign me in when Skype starts.
Please note: I do not respond to requests for help via Private Message.

Hi, wineryan, and welcome to the Community!
Great addition ... I was focused on creating two separate accounts, not running them simultaneously!
So, in case anybody is wondering what Wineryan is referring to, the instruction provided allows you to open Skype a second time, and have two accounts signed on and operational at the same time.
Cheers,
Elaine

I have just created a second skype account, for my htc android phone. I didn't know whether to use my pc account details, but in the end, I decided to create a new account. It seems to work. Anyone else tried this, using their pc account?
