i CAN LOG ON TO SKYPE BUT IF i TRY TO CALL IT SAYS SKYPE NOT WORKING

i just downloaded the new version, itsn o longer crashing but its not sending my messages. how can i fix this?

Mine was fine until the last update. Now it crashes everytime I try to read a text IM. I've tried reinstalling, and checking on the beta now, but this is kind of annoying...

EDIT: Installed the Beta mentioned above. Seems to be working now. Was able to reply to an IM, and it hasn't crashed yet.

Many of u said u couldn't download the link cause there was a breakage in this link so I am re-posting it--If u read many of the posts concerning this skype crashing issue it has been recommended that u install the latest version of skype that includes adding ur facebook friends to ur contact list and it works-I can now IM message AND also video chat with all my contacts-I have tested it after the installation and it works fine-See other posts recommending this fix-I myself have windows 7-64 bit-heres the updated link(so sorry my original link had a breakage and couldnt be opened)http://www.skype.com/intl/en/get-skype/on-your-computer/windows/beta/     THIS IS THE BETA 5.7 DOWNLOAD

I'm having a similiar problem. I can log on but clicking on my contacts or going under the call tab all my options are greyed out and Skype shuts itself off when I try to talk with them. My internet and everything else is working fine. I uninstalled and reinstalled Skype but to no avail. I know my Skype is up to date, I don't understand what is causing this. It started last night for me.

I have been dealing with this issue all morning when it was just working yesterday. I use Skype ALL of the time to speak with my husband when he is away with the military and so does my son, but now everytime we sign in and try to call or video call or hit anything, it shuts down telling us that skype is not working, program error, skype is not responding, etc. This is so frustrating! I have uninstalled it and reinstalled. I have even run a system restore to when I knew it was working and that didn't work. I have run every microsoft updated listed on my computer and know that I have the most updated version of Skype.
