YOU HAVE REACHED A NON-WORKING NUMBER. ANNOUNCEMENT 14 SWITCH 86-5

Just purchased a new online number.  Cannot connect to it with my Verizon Wireless Palm Pre.  Get the recording "YOU HAVE REACHED A NON-WORKING NUMBER. ANNOUNCEMENT 14 SWITCH 86-5".  Verizon has no known issues connecting to online numbers.  Skype support had me change settings for who can receive calls.  Then I deleted config.xml file.  Then I edited the file (this simply changed amount of rings till switchover to voicemail - they aren't realizing there is never a connection to hit the voicemail.  They say they can dial through in their system - of course, it's within system.  Whenever anyone dials in from outside Skype they get the recording.  Finally I uninstalled Mac version 5.3 and installed 5.4 beta for Mac.  Same recording.  Is the online number corrupt or has some software switch not been thrown to let the outside world in?

Thanks for any ideas!  Oh - a funny aside - your own spell checker doesn't know the word Skype, it thinks it should be "keep"!

All of my previous "solutions" have been as a result of contact with them.  Level 1 support cannot respond outside the script they are given.  This needs someone from Skype calling someone from Verizon Wireless at the Tier two level.  But thanks...
