I know that a lot of other people are having this problem. I've noticed this before about half a year ago from my friends telling me they could hear my music through Skype. I thought it was because my headset (TurtleBeach PX21) was rather easily heard without them on anyway. So I just turned my music down as a result. But just recently, my friend told me again to turn my music down. I became frustrated because it happens to me all the time. So I muted my mic completely, using the controller the headset is attached to. And I blasted the music really loud. I un-muted my mic and asked my friend if he heard it with my muted mic. He said yes. However when I muste my mic through Skype, it seems to work. This made me really confused.
I looked up on the internet about this problem today, and it turns out I'm not the only one. HOWEVER, I haven't found a successful solution. Some were saying there's this option called "Stereo Mix" in Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/Sound under the tabrecording. This option, I could not find. I even checked "Show Disabled Devices" when I right clicked. That didn't work, so I tried another vague solution: someone thinks this is a software issue mainly from Skype using the same audio channel as my other applications (which sounded exactly what I was dealing with). That I should find a way to separate the audio channels and the drivers they use (I don't know a way).
I'm very annoyed of this problem, for I won't have much privacy while listening to music, watching Youtube videos, or playing games. Any little bit of advice and help is MUCH appreciated. Thanks
(I'm using Windows 7 OS, and I'm using the TurtleBeach PX21 headset <- The package says the headset is good for PS3, Xbox360, and PC. Also has the 2 cables, input and output. I'm using Skype version 5.5.0, downloading the latest version now, although I don't think that will fix this problem.)
You cannot talk with music on. We are very sorry. However, you may listen to music separately. It will probably be too quiet to notice.
well I have the same problem as you, but its not beacuse of your turtle beaches, it has something with the computer itself, or with Skype (which I'm thinking skype beacuse I did all the same things as you did). sorry this did't help too much but at least you can narrow down what's causing it.
