Skype Keeps Crashing

Hello,

My Skype keeps crashing everytime I try to go to the Audio Settings. The program stops responding so I have to close it.

This started when I changed my Microphone Settings to "Microphone (Asus Xonar DG Audio Device)".

I changed the settings because I was trying to make my calls to work. My friends couldn't hear me speaking nor could I hear their voice, so I started changing the settings to try and see what's the problem. But after I changed the Microphone setting, Skype stopped responding and I had to close it. Since then, whenever I try to change the microphone setting back, Skype stops responding.

Is there any way to reset the Skype's settings or is there something else I can do to solve this issue? Thanks in advance.

If you want to reset Skype settings then you can do this:

Quit Skype or use Windows Task Manager to kill any Skype.exe process. Go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %appdata%, press Enter or click the OK button. The Windows File Explorer will pop up. There locate a folder named “Skype”. Rename this folder to something different, e.g. Skype_old. Restart Skype.

N.B. If needed, you will still be able to re-establish your call and chat history. All data is still saved in the Skype_old folder.

hi there, i tried this and changed the folder name, but still with my skype, it keeps disconnecting and closing after about 5 min, when even doing nothing, no chat only videostream? why does this keep happening? before this never happend and i had no problem with using skype i hope i can be helped to fix this so i can again be able to have normal contact with my friends, thanks in advance for help
