I am running Skype 5.5.0.113 on Win XP SP3 and have been running for a long time without any problems - until today. I have made no changes to the PC, Windows, Skype or anything else. Today, the Skype home page just has a blue circle that continues to rotate. My recent contacts page seems to have disappeared.
I have looked for a Skype version update but all of the links that I can find only point to an older version 5.3.0.120.
What is the latest version available (English) for Win XP?
What is the problem with Skype with this rotating blue circle?
Any information on this would be appreciated!
Thanks!

I don't know what's causing the Home Page not to load today. Some users are having the issue (including me). Some are not.
Skype is aware of the problem though and is looking into it. I have no clue how low it'll be before a fix is put in place.

Having the same problem since the most recent update to 5.5.0.117 - Skype logs in ok and I can make calls and use the program fine - except - the blue circle loops endlessly on the skype home tab?
Any clues??

As I reported above, I was seeing Home Page not loading here yesterday. This morning it's back to normal. It may take a little while longer for whatever the fix was to propagage around to all servers but it seems to be happening.

Don't know if this will help anyone, but I was having the same problem with the home page not loading (blue circle just going round and round). I am running Vista home premium. I am not a computer guru, but tried doing several things to resolve it (clearing cache and temp. internet files, adding to trusted sites) and none of them worked. I do know that when I rebooted my computer there was a problem with the Windows Gadget sidebar loading and the gadets did not load. I then went on to Skype and my homepage was loaded. My computer and Firefox is running so much quicker now. I read that the some of the gadgets in the Vista sidebar can slow down the computer and use a lot of memory. If your are running the sidebar, I believe you can disable it by right-clicking and choosing to disable it at windows start-up. Worth a try, my Skype homepage is loading fine now and that was the only differnce. Good luck.

Is your connection status on Skype “Online”. The status icon (the one lrft of your name) must be solid green with a white checkmark inside.
Also what do you see when you open this link in your Internet Explorer (must be IE 32-bit version, even if you are using another browser)

Try to reset Skype settings.
Quit Skype or use Windows Task Manager to kill any Skype.exe process. Go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %appdata%, press Enter or click the OK button. The Windows File Explorer will pop up. There locate a folder named “Skype”. Rename this folder to something different, e.g. Skype_old. Restart Skype.
N.B. If needed, you will still be able to re-establish your call and chat history. All data is still saved in the Skype_old folder.

I have had the same problems with the home tab. I tried to load https://apps.skype.com/home/ on my default browser and it was successful but it was not successful on the IE (32bit). Therefore, I realised that the program somehow is connected to the IE settings. I cleared all history and cookies from IE through "Internet Options" and then I was able to load the link https://apps.skype.com/home/ This was the time that the problem got fixed.
For whoever in the skype support team sees this simple solution, just know that you should respect your customers. I contacted the customer support by using the chat and the response was horrible plus the fact that the guy left the session! I am really disappointed and I am going to contact even MS to complain for this. I pay you MORE than my mobile carrier!
