Show cam separate from the chat window

I'm using Skype 5.8. Just recently upgraded. On the version I had before I was able to right click during a videocall and select "hide myself view" and was also able to view the other person in an another window separate from the chat window. Can you still do that with Skype 5.8? I dont really wanna see myself when videocalling. Also when the video is displayed in the chat window the toolbar is displayed at the bottom of the other person cam's feed blocking part of their cam feed. That's why being able to display the other person's live feed in a separate window its very useful. Someone help me please. I've tried about everything to no avail.

Re: Show cam separate from the chat window

In v5.8 you can't do what you want to do.  I too would like to be able to separate my PIP from the incoming video screen but Skype doesn't seem to thing that's a worthwhile feature.

You can minimzie the PIP to a very small size by clicking once on it though.  Then click on it once again to bring it back to normal size.

Thanks for the feedback. I really appreciate it. I'm glad you understood what I'm trying to do. Didn't think people would even understand me lol . English is not my first language.

Re: Show cam separate from the chat window

I don't think what you want to see is what the original poster was looking for.  In the situation you describe you can see the Skype incoming video in a small popup window but doing this:

Click on Tools > Options > Calls.  Check the box "Show call controls when Skype is in the background."

That will cause a popup windows of your incoming Skype video when Skype is not in the foreground.

Re: Show cam separate from the chat window

I have version 5.8 and it was automatically set up when I was in a video call that if I clicked on teh skype screen I could see normal webcam lay out but if I clicked off the skype window onto google chrome for example there would be a little window of the person I was talking to. I accidentally closed the little window and wondered if anyone knew how I might be able to get it back? This was the most relevant post I could find

Thanks =)

If you close this pop-out window, then the only way to get it back is to restart the call.
