Screen Sharing is not free anymore?

I have always been able to use screen sharing, and I do not have skype premium. Now, each time I try to share my screen, it then "checks my subscription" and tells me I cannot do it with group video calling, when I am not on a group video call to begin with! I'm just so very confused!

This is actually a new behaviour introduced with the latest versions of Skype (since Skype 5.7 Beta). Screen sharing is still free, but screen sharing with video requires Premium account. As a new and very confusing option, you need now to switch sending video off before starting screen sharing if you don’t have a Premium account.

If you read once more what is written on the pop-up window which you receive when you try to start screen sharing, you will see that there is actually an option to do screen sharing without Premium account. Just press on the “Continue with free call “ button. Looks greyed out, but it’s actually active.

I'm super pissed about that too. Is there nothing else you get for being a premium member that they had to take away a simple feature such as screen share?

Screen sharing is still available without Premium and is still FREE!

It’s actually now close to 1½ year since this misleading information started to pop-up when you start screen sharing without switching your video off. Skype developers are well aware about this issue, but are totally reluctant to do any changes.
