Re: Missing Toolbars Menu

First make sure that you have the latest Skype version (5.9.0.114) installed.

If this is still not resolving your problem, then try the solution provided here.

Re: Missing Toolbars Menu

Thanks ruwim, did as you suggested but when I got to <ui>I clicked on and it changed value from - to + but did not see chrome enabled and no instructions as to where to add the line you suggested.

Any ideas?

Re: Missing Toolbars Menu

You should open the config.xml file in a text editor, e.g. Notepad or similar. Do not double click this file, because then it will open in Internet Explorer and you will not be able to change anything.

Do as stated here:

http://community.skype.com/t5/Windows/I-can-t-view-the-tabs-on-top-of-Skype-window/m-p/543933#M46130

If you see there a line reading <ChromeEnabled>1</ChromeEnabled> then change the value 1 to 0. If this line doesn’t exist, then just add this line <ChromeEnabled>0</ChromeEnabled>.

Re: Missing Toolbars Menu

ruwim, thanks again for your input but sadly on clicking config xmlwith only one click, either left or right ,takes me straight to the big list where I cannot change anything. How would I open the file in a text editor eg notepad so that I might try to change settings?

Re: Missing Toolbars Menu

Start your Notepad. Go to File -> Open and find the folder where the config.xml is located.

Re: Missing Toolbars Menu

FIXED THE PROBLEM!!! DO this:
1. Use the start-"run" and type in %appdata%
A directory list appears. Go to your sesr name folder and find "CONFIG.XML"
Open it with Notepad.
Find <UI> element (about 3/4 of the way down page)
press enter to add line under <UI> and paste this:
<ChromeEnabled>-1</ChromeEnabled> right after <UI>.
Save the file and restart Skype. FIXED
