Keeping Skype active

[ Edited ]

Someone tried to tell me that you must sign into Skype regularly to keep it active. I do not believe him, what he is saying is that if you don't use it for weeks, you will lose it by not keeping it active. So, if you go away for weeks or months, when you come back your account will no longer exist. Can anyone tell me please if what he states is correct?

Please use plain text.

Re: Keeping Skype active

Hi, scent_of_season, and welcome to the Community!

I believe the confusion is between credit left in an account vs. just the account itself.  Skype Credit can be re-activated; please see this information for the details:

https://support.skype.com/en-us/faq/FA10378/How-can-I-re-activate-inactive-Skype-Credit

An account can be used or left by itself indefinitely as Skype does not permit account deletion.  You may want to make note of the account's registered e-mail address and password so you can access it in the future when you need it.  Viewing your question from the opposite angle, perhaps this information may help: https://support.skype.com/en-us/faq/FA142/Can-I-delete-my-Skype-account

Best regards,

elainem77

Thanks for the welcome and your answer elainem77.

You answered my question, neither of us have Skype credit so I figured the only way it would be deleted is if the person deleted the program itself, not by being inactive. I have given you kudos, hope it makes your day

Kind regards,
