Are you sure you have the latest version?  What specific version number do you see if you click on Help > About Skype in Wndows, or Skype > About Skype in Mac?

Re: How do I get rid of upgrade notification?

When the upgrade notice comes up it provides two options: Upgrade now and Not now/later (or something). I upgraded last week using the administrative user on my windows system as my regular user does not have the neccessary privilages (for security reasons). Clicking the UPGRADE NOW at this point generates a SKYPE system response indicating that I already have the latest upgrade, clicking the NOT NOW button just gets me a fresh reminder when I start up again. Therin lies my frustration.

Re: How do I get rid of upgrade notification?

Sometimes that you-already-have-the-latest message is wrong.  Is it too much trouble for you to click on Help > About to see what version you actually have installed?

The current version is 5.9.0.114.  With that version there's now an option to turn off auto-updating and that should stop those messages from popping up.

Re: How do I get rid of upgrade notification?

Alright, after a couple of hours at it I have resolved the issue.

For future reference here is what I noticed:

It seems that the old 5.5 version was not uninstalled from the non administrator user programs although the latest 5.9 version was installed (thus the mixed message from SKYPE). I ultimately had to remove all skype applications from both the administrator and user control panel, re-start the computer and re-install the updated 5.9 version.

Thanks for your response
