Can't change status to online (tried reinstalling,proxy,firewall, please help!!!) [ Edited ]

Hello,

A year ago my Skype stopped working reliably. I can't connect online or change my status to online. Not completely, once every ten days it works... It's spontaneous.

I tried reinstalling, checked firewall and proxy settings, deleting/renaming caches, changing my username

I'm using mac osx 10.5.8

I heard there's an app you can run when you start Skype that can locate exactly what the problem is, but i cant find it on the site. I have spent hours if not days tring to locate the problem.

Please help me!!!

iI'm having the same problem.  My icon shows green, which should be online, but when I go into check status, it shows up "gray" meaning its not online.  I started having this problem about two weeks ago.  Never had it before.  I spent about two hours last night with a customer service rep trying all sorts of solutions and never could get it to work.  It has something to do with the online/offline connection. Does anyone else have ideas?

I don’t know if this is actually your case, but you should know that if your connection status is “Online” then this option in the dropdown box should be greyed. This means that you cannot change your status to “Online” because you are already “Online”.

How do I change my Skype Online status from "Do not Disturb" to "Online".

I was having this exact problem. I was able to fix it by going to Skype Preferences and clicking on General and unclick the box where it says Set My Status To Away.

After unclicking that, I was able to change my status.

Hi, I'm having trouble being able to change my status from offline to online. Everytime i go to click on "online" it doesnt do anything. However, when i set my status to "do not disturb" the box appears letting me know that thats what ive done. can somebody please help me? I've tried just about everything. I dont want to re-install it because its such a headache. pls help.
