Blocking and reporting abuse, does not help

Keep receiving calls (upto 6 times a day) from an automated recording. It states my computer isn't secured and to go to a website ([invalid URL]) and follow the directions.  Do not go to the site. If you do, likely it will install malware on your computer.

[invalid URL]&prog_id=GoDaddy
[invalid URL]#

Registered site with: [invalid URL]

Address in the Bahamas (easy laws for scammers), source supposedly in Canada.

They are blocked and reported each call, but still manage to call back.

Had allowed anyone to contact, but now have that locked to contacts only. Hopefully this will prevent them from calling back.

Issue is how do I escalate the abuse issue with Skype?

Re: Blocking and reporting abuse, does not help

I would suggest uninstalling and reinstalling Skype and getting a new username and password. This is just my opinion.

setting your privacy settings to allo calls and IMs from your contacts only will indeed prevent such unwanted communications from unwanted users.  The possible reason why those scammers managed to call you again despite of having them reported and blocked is they are using multiple accounts.  I think sooner or later, Skype will ban or terminate their accounts, and perhaps stop them from creating new ones.

you can pass a more detailed to skype by sending an email to abuse@skype.net

Re: Blocking and reporting abuse, does not help

I have the exact same thing happening. I have 5.3.0.1093 on my mac. (And the interface sucks, which is another issue.) Weekly I get calls from ONLINE HELP®. I blocked them by adding them to my contact list and selected block AND REPORT ABUSE. Then I get a call from them and find out they are not on my blocked contact list anymore. And when they leave a message they spew out a bunch of numbers and say it's my IP address!!! THEY HAVE CALLED DOZENS OF TIMES. And I've repeated the same drill dozens of times.

We're trying out Ooma right now. So far, so good.
