Freetalk Conference webcam and Panasonic products ( tv, blu ray, etc.)

Has anyone had success using a freetalk conference webcam with either a Panasonic smart tv or with a Panasonic blu ray player. I purchased a Panasonic Blu ray player and freetalk webcam from the Skype shop website and only the audio (no video) is being transmitted from the blu ray player on Skype. Skype, Panasonic, and Freetalk have no explaination for my issue, so I would like to know if anyone is successfully using the Freetalk webcam or if I should look to purchase the Pansonic brand webcam for my Panasonic blu ray player to use with Skype.

I have the same issue with the camera connected to the BTT370 home cinema setup.  Did you get this resolved?

Thanks,

Mark

Re: Freetalk Conference webcam and Panasonic products ( tv, blu ray, etc.)

I have purchased 3 sets of Freetalk cameras & Panasonic DMP-BDT210P Blu-Ray players. I was able to get 1 set to work perfect from my parents home. The other 2 sets, the best I could get is seeing video from the sender, but could not get my video to work. I increased my bandwidth from my ISP to 16mbps(down)/6mbps(up) & I installed a new router 600N to ensure there isn't a bandwith issue anywhere. Still no success.

Also, Panasonic discontinued their camera & when I purchased the last 2 Freetalk cameras they show as being owned by Panasonic.

I am having the exact same problem and I think this is a Skype issue.....the video works just fine if you test it thru the Skype Advanced settings, but then when you make a test call, it does not work.

Are you running the same firmware version for all 3 blu ray players? What versions are you running on the blu ray player that is working with the camera?

The issue has still not been resolved and I have been advised by Freetalk (a.k.a. ebuynow) to return both products for testing.

They need to stop selling this bundle. It doesn't work!

Re: Freetalk Conference webcam and Panasonic products ( tv, blu ray, etc.)

Not sure it was the camera firmware update that did it but after updating and plugging it back into the DMP BDT210 I got a message to update the firmware on the BD to 1.80.

After the updated IT WORKS!!! finally .. so again not sure if it was the cam update, the BD update or both that made it happen.

Re: Freetalk Conference webcam and Panasonic products ( tv, blu ray, etc.)

I followed this link and it worked perfectly for my Freetalk webcam and Panasonic Plasma TV:

Re: Panasonic Blu Ray Player & Freetalk Conference webcam[ New ]

Hi Everyone,

eBuyNow would like to thank everyone for their posts and for being so patient while working hard to find a solution for the compatability issue some people were experiencing with their FREETALK Conference HD camera working with their Panasonic Blu-ray player or Panasonic TV.  The firmware version of some cameras was the reason for the issue.  Please follow the simple steps below to update the firmware version to 2703.

Step 1
Use a Windows XP or Windows 7 PC.
Go into link: http://freetalk.ebuynow.com/us/ebuynow/web-cameras/tv-webcams/freetalk-conference-hd-camera-for-panasonic-tvs.html

Step 2
Scroll down to about half the page and click on the tab “Downloads”.

Step 3
Click on "Update your firmware"

Step 4
Save the Binary File onto your desktop

Step 5
Plug the Camera into the Windows PC’s using any available USB port

Step 6
Click to open the Binary File you had saved
A pop-up/ dialog box will open on your screen “Freetalk Conference Firmware Update” – ensure that your pop-up blocker is off

Step 7
Click “Update Firmware” button
(When the Firmware update is successful, the text “Reload Complete” will appear in the white box at the bottom of the dialog box. The firmware update process is now complete)

Step 8
Unplug the camera from the Windows PC

You may now follow the steps of connecting the camera to your Panasonic TV or Panasonic Blu-ray player and enjoy Skype video calls from your TV!

Best regards,
