amonbofis wrote:Hi UOLord...I did everything you suggested but the result is the same. I noticed though that the link you gave me for the Fix_it is not for Windows 7, but I downloaded and run it anyway. After reboot I installed SkypeSetupFull from your link. The message this time was:
"The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2738." and "Skype Toolbars Install failed. Skype will be installed on your computer as normal". Everything happens like I described in my original note. What now? Thx for trying.

My problem got fixed when I updated the McAfee Antivirus Plus software. Just like that, I didin't have to do anything else. I hope this is usefull for others having the same problem and running McAfee. Thanks.

Hello Joy,
Thank you Very much for your reply. (I just think it's amazing how some of these things are right in front of us, and we don't even notice them. I didn't!)
The fact that all you had to do was to click the "online" button in the Status area, was a simple fix. I wish I would have noticed that one. I hope everyone with this same type of problem reads your reply and figures it out. Again, Thank You Joy.
NOTE: Joy found here Status was "off-line" and not online. Click that button!
Thank You for using Skype and the Skype Community Forums.

every time I try to open skype I get "home page unavailable." I'm on vista, and updated skype two days ago when prompted. it had worked fine until then. ever since, nothing. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, downloaded and updated, all many times. I followed the advice to reset and then change internet explorer settings, although I use firefox. I have tried the status button -- no change. Two other things seem to be happening at the same time: when I downloaded Skype before today it said that it had a connection problem and was trying another something or other, and the only other thing that happened around the same time is that norton 360 has an issue "live update engine COMmodule has stopped working and was closed." Any help appreciated, especially help that works!
