Can the Gigaset DX800A be used with Skype/Skype Manager?

Hello Ms. Dondivasss,

You are asking about using a Siemens DX800A with Skype Manager.

I cannot find anywhere on the net where this set works with Skype.  I suggest you contact Siemens for more information.

Siemens got back to me this morning and they confirmed that the phone can be used with any voip provider that uses sip.

Does this apply to Skype?

Hello Ms. Dondivasss,

I see you contacted Siemens about this set.  If they say it will work, it should work with Skype.  Since that device is not "certified" with Skype, it is currently not supported, so you may have to contact Siemens again for additional Configuration data. 

Just so you know, Skype only uses 3 prameters to connect to Skype for SIP.

1.  Username = 99051000xxxxxx

2.  Password = your Skype SIP Profile Password

3.  Domain = sip.skype.com

That's it.  Enter those parameters in your SIP Configuration of the device, and you should be connected right away.  If you have additional issues, you can contact Siemens or even Skype Live Chat Support via your Skype Manager for some testing.

I tried to set my new phone (gigaset c610ip) but there are too much data to fill. The only data you proposed do not work. 

Could you please help me?

I am having exactly the same problem - both Skype and Siemens keep on passing me back and forth like an idiot. 

All I know is this:

1. The Siemens phone works with all other SIP providers who simply give me the answers to the questions above

2. There is nothing complicated about the questions above whatsoever to anyone technical - every tech person knew exactly what I was referring to when I dealt with my two *other* VOIP providers.

So what can one conclude:

1. SKYPE DOES NOT JUST HAVE 3 BITS OF INFO FOR SETUP

2. SKYPE DOES HAVE A PILE OF USELESS TECHSUPPORT AGENTS

Can someone who has a clue please answer michele-longoba's questions - they make sense - they need an answer

This is not acceptable. I too would like to use this phone with my Skype business account [NOT ENTERPRISE ACCOUNT]

Can you please off the 3 pieces of information for this to occur.

We understand that Skype will not support this phone.

Found a solution to connect the GIGASET DX800A and Skype sucessfully using Skype Manager with a Skype Connect SIP profile, a further business user "myskypeuser" for incoming calls through skype and the basic Skype Connect SIP profile (SIP user, password, sip.skype.com UDP 5060 and timeout 5 sec). Your firewall must be opend for UDP 5004-5020 and 5060 for the assigned IP of the DX800A. I my working environment I used a fixed internet IP from my ISP.
