VoiceMail Never Answers

Hate to post a new question, as there are so many about voicemail.  I consider myself a very sophisticated user, I've done the research and Skype voicemail is not picking up.

5.8.0.156

Have the box checked for send to voicemail if unanswered in 8 seconds.

Have the skype.com Voicemail enabled.

Have a phone number associated with my account.

If I call into the number directly, or if I call via another number I have forwarded to my Skype number, voicemail never picks up.  If I Skype to Skype, voicemail picks up.  Why doesn't voicemail answer when I call my Skype number?

Voicemail also does not work for me.  I see that a lot of people have a similar problem but never saw an answer.  There is actually nobody to call that will provide an answer.  Anybody consider a class action suit against Skype for failure to deliver?

It came as a free extra when I purchased a Mexico City phone number.

Voice mail - free with above phone number. Initial turn on seemed to work and also sent emails to me - looked like a great idea because - I have to call back to all those land lines and then Skype makes money. What a money maker for Skype to have VoiceMail that works.

However unable to record a message that could be understood. If set to 30 seconds would answer in 2, if set to 60 dialing would stop before Voice Mail. Now when turned off calls go straight to Voicemail on 1st ring consequently I have to set to duration long enough the silly thing doesn't answer.

Value -500 Useless to me and costs Skype millions in lost call back opportunities.

Skype might consider artificial voice as generated by likes of Google Translate if they are unable to record voices.

I have the same problem and have done several online chats with skype. After they make me change settings which end up not working, the skype rep hangs up the chat. I received an email from skype saying they are aware of the problem and trying to get it fixed. My skype voicemail then worked for about two days and not it is not working again. Very frustrating.

Skype to my skype sends to vmail, ie, seems to work.

Skype number seems to work and go to email after the time specified in options.

A forwarded call to my Skype number is always a problem, it rings and rings.

Hi, I have two Skype Numbers, US and UK.  My voice mail works on the UK number but not on the US Number.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can fix this problem?

go to the tools menu and click options...

under the calls tab click voicemail...

in the second section tick the box 'send unanswered calls to voicemail' then set your greeting...

set the seconds to between 15 - 25 seconds...

set other options as desired...

click save

yep I have the same problem on my mac, but on the Mac under preferences (like options in windows) you don't even get an option to set the time before the voicemail is supposed to cut in.So nothing happens and ive tried everything i can.

its totally hopeless these days with skype, they used to be great with support but now its impossible.Another case of  getting too big too quick, then going public  and now they just take the money and run..

i agree that something should be done...my vm only works 25% of the time so much so that I am thinking about cancelling my skype acct period.

my voicemail is not working and my girlfriend who has a separate account is not working either.
