Online number - Busy signals / not in service messages

Hello,

I have had a working online number for several months and up until a few days ago, it has been working fine.  However, in the last few days, many callers have been trouble getting through to me.  In some cases, they get a "busy signal" even though I am not on the line and even though I have set-up my account to automatically go to voicemail when I am on a call.  In other cases, callers are getting a "number not in service" message.  Note, that problems are not consistent.  Sometimes calls go through and sometimes they do not almost randomly.  Also, many people who are now experiencing problems getting in touch with me never had problems in the past.  Those callers are located in the United States and Canada.  My number is located in Chile.

I have already:

- Verified that the privacy settings are set to allow anyone to call me

- Re-installed Skype to ensure I have the latest software

- Confirmed that my Skype number and subscription had not expired

I also checked with a Skype support representative.  He claimed there was no issue with my account and speculated that the cause is the fault of service providers of the people who are trying to call me.  I am somewhat skeptical of that claim, since the issue seems to have arisen for multiple callers in different places.

Either there is still some problem specific to my account, that the service rep failed to spot, or there is some systemic issue with online numbers.  Is anyone else experiencing similar issues?  Found solutions?

Thanks,

Brice (Skype name: brice_macgregor)

I have the same problem. I paid for this service, but it does not seem to work at all!

Also: you mentioned several settings (e.g. privacy) related to the online number, but I cannot even find a place to change any settings for it. My Online Number page does not show a link for Settings. How did you do it?

Same problem here.  Just signed up for an online number in the US 4 days ago.  I have to keep logging off Skype and back on and then dialing my own number from another phone to make sure it's working

I am a manager, and several of my team have had this problem which started about 10 days ago. We have not been able to get any solution other than wait and it resolves itself.

Same Problem here

If i go to the heartbeat, it states that my online number is fine.

I even chatted with someone at skype the other day. purly by acident since I cant seem to find the chat link again.  Anyway they also indicated my service was faulty. Interesing all speed test put me well over 5mbps.

Also my skype is indicating online. others have indicated that I am offline, even while taling with then via skype.

I knew Microsoft would ruin skype.  just waiting and searching for an alternative that can offer what I need.  which skype currently seems to be failing at.

Loosing many calls,

Your age should not be showing 16 or less than 16 in profile . Change it if it is less than 17

. After that go to tools> options> privacy & change the option to receieve calls from any one .

Re: Online number - Busy signals / not in service messages

Have you tried this.

First check that your privacy settings are set to ''Allow calls from anyone''.
Then change them to "Allow SkypeIn calls from Only people from my Contacts List".
Save and wait for 5 minutes.
Log out from your Skype account and log back in.
Change settings back to "Allow calls from Anyone".
Save and wait for 5 minutes.
Log out from your Skype account and log back in.

If you found a post useful, please give Kudos. If it helped to fix your issue, mark it as a solution to help others.
Thank You!
