Online Number: "The person is unavailable", even though I'm online in Skype

I'm subscribed for an US online number (+1-401-xxx). I found this service being unstable all the time. Sometimes I'm reachable, but most of the times, even if I'm online in Skype, the callers hear "The person who you're trying to reach is not available".

Why? Is there any technical support for this paid service?

i get the same thing...There is no one to speak with either. My number is unavailable throughout the day. Companies with no Live person to speak with should be banned. That means you skype. You have caused me nothing but headaches and $ loss the last 3 months

I'm having the same problem with my online number which I rely on when vacationing in the USA. My friends have to leave a message or believe that we are not home as our phone will not ring and gives the caller the idea that we are not home, or not answering.

If this is not soon resolved, I will not be renewing my Skype number nor my subscription.

I am also having the same issue. This is ridiculous. I feel like SKYPE has ripped me off.

I believe that this may be a "timed out" problem. If I quit Skype and restart it twice a day, once in the morning and again in the evening, everything works great.

I was able to access a 'live chat' with a tech representative, although he was unable to solve the problem, by following the instructions below. He seemed to believe that the problem was with our Philips phone, which is not the case. In any event you can try contacting Skype this way.

To contact Skype Customer Service:

1. Go to the Customer Services page.
2. If you are not already signed in, you will be prompted to do so.
3. If you are an eligible user, you will see an option to request live chat support. Click on this.

A live chat representative will ask you to describe your problem, and do their best to talk you through possible solutions.

If you are not eligible for live chat, then you can still contact us via email by following the same instructions as above.

Has this been figured out already? I've been contacting chat support about this problem but they never had a permanent solution. This has been the same problem with my US online number for almost two weeks now. There are days when my number worked but a lot of days that it does not too.

We have found that the following provide immediate, but temporary, fixes to the problem. Bear in mind that we are using a Philips VOIP 855 Skype phone in conjunction with a Skype Online Number

1) Phoning FROM the Philips phone with "The person you are trying to reach is unavailable" problem.

2) Switching off the Philips phone, leaving for 15 minutes, and switching back on.
