I' m living in U.S and would like to get a Hong Kong online number with Hong Kong monthly subscription. Can I forward my online number to my U.S cellphone? Skype website said "There is no extra cost if the phone you want calls fowarded to is covered by your subscription." Does that mean I need to add U.S. monthly subscription? Without U.S monthly subscription, how much I need to pay per call/minute? Thanks.
Do you need to call numbers in Hong Kong? If not, you wouldn't need to purchase a subscription for calling Hong Kong. You would need a subscription to cover calls to the USA if you don't want to pay for each call forwarded from your Skype account to your US mobile phone.
The Unlimited USA & Canada subscription is US$ 2.99/month, or discounted if you purchase it a year at a time. If you get the calling subscription first, you get a discount when you purchase Online Numbers. Otherwise, without a calling subscription, you would need to keep Skype Credit on your Skype account to cover the 2.3 US cents/minute for calls from Skype to a US number (landline or mobile), plus the connect fee. If you're in Alaska, the rate is 6 US cents/minute, plus the connect fee.
I use Skype Online Numbers in the US and 3 other countries (Mexico, UK, Australia). When I'm not logged into Skype, any calls I receive via Skype - either through the online numbers, or a Skype user calling my Skype name - are forwaded to a US mobile phone. I have a subscription that covers calls to the US, so I'm not charged whenever any of those calls are forwarded to my mobile phone. Works well!
Hope this helps....
