OK so I have a colleague in trouble with his employer over content of skype IM chat between 2 employees. However, they both deleted their chat history but the employer says they have copy of all the conversations.
1. I thought chat history was only held on users local machine - where else is it held?
2. I accept the employer has the right to do this but how \ what package? is this part of Skype Manager or something?

Hi, mcfly27, and welcome to the Community!

You are correct - chat history is held on the user's local machine.
2. I accept the employer has the right to do this but how \ what package? is this part of Skype Manager or something?
Skype is secure and encrypted, so no one is able to view chats. The only caveats I am aware of is if users have shared their passwords or granted permissions for their accounts to be shared in applications such as Skype Manager.

So if permission was granted, are you saying Skype Manager records all chat even if the user deletes their history\doesnt record?
