Removing someone from seeing my message history to them

Can I make it so a person can not see my message history to them? I was friends with someone and now I am not and I sent some embaressing photos, can I make it so he cant redownload them?

So I was sure of the facts, I confirmed with a colleague that once a file is sent and received by the recipient, it is not possible to retrieve it.
