More than one account

[ Edited ]

Dear Sirs,

I am a Skype user for a long time now with one account registered.

Now I would like to create a new account though keeping the old one.

In fact, over the last months I have received in my account some messages from people I don't know and some requests to add contacts to my list of contacts. Some of them were related to adult sites, etc.

Presently, I use Skype mostly for my professional contacts which I want to keep secure and private.

In fact, I have to discuss on a regular basis items regarding non-disclosure agreements with some of my customers, so I intend to create a new account where I would add just my professional contacts (customers), as well as some contacts of close relatives.

So, please let me know if it is possible to create that new account using a different username though keeping the old one. Would it be associated to a different e-mail than the first account?

In the affirmative case, please let me know the steps I must take in order to complete that task.

Thank you in advance for your help,

Best regards,

Unfortunately, you cannot.

To avoid receiving any IMs like this, you can adjust your privacy to, Change Allow IMs from... "anyone" to "people on my Contact list" only.

you may also block and report the scammers.

Picking up where Tamim left off ...

Yes, we can create more than one account to serve different purposes.  So, you may have an account dedicated to your business contacts and a separate account dedicated to your personal contacts, both using the same e-mail address if you prefer.

Hi, CWheeler, and welcome to the Community!

When you click on this link, you will find yourself at the New Account Sign-Up form.

https://login.skype.com/account/signup-form

Note: the Profile Information is not required -- I discourage everyone from completing it as it is too easy to overlook that this information is displayed publicly by default - skip past this.  The only required information has an asterisk *

after it:

     First Name

     Last Name

     Skype Account Name

     Password

Yes, you may use the same e-mail address as you used for your other account, however re-setting the password can be confusing when you do.

Be sure to write down the date you set up your account as this is key information Skype Customer Service may ask whenever you may need to contact them for assistance.  You will receive an e-mail from Skype upon setting up your new account - print this e-mail and keep it in a safe place and do not delete the e-mail from your e-mail account!

If you have a few moments to set up your account from your residence before departing for Mexico, that would be much better: Skype will assume your language preference will be Spanish if you set up your account in Mexico!

Also, remember that you will need to download and install the Skype software onto the computer you are using, or install the app from your device's app store, before you sign on to use Skype.

This link will take you to the right place:  http://www.skype.com/en/download-skype/skype-for-computer/

My best wishes and hopes for a complete recovery,

Warm regards,

Elaine
