I know how to set my status as available, away, busy, etc as a whole, but I am wondering if is possible to change these settings for individual contacts. I would like the ability to be available but not appear as online to one or two specific contacts.

you temporarily block them when you don't want those certain contacts to see you online. When you block a certain contact, you will appear just as "offline" on their ends. You can block then unblock contacts anytime, and they will receive no notifications about your actions.
VooDooDoll, thank you! Does blocking someone remove them from my contacts? I'm concerned about having to ask for their okay if I need to add them back to my contacts.
did you ever get an answer...my screen is flooded with notifications saying everyone in my contact list has either come on line or gone off line..all after I did a recent software upgrade
