I,too, have just received this spam. Hold your mouse on the [invalid URL] piece of the email, and you can see it will NOT take you to the https site

that is indeed a scam or a phishing attempt.  Skype doesn't employ such verification purposes.  Kindly report the details to contactus@skype.net.
