When I send a text message from Skype to anybody’s mobile my caller ID is not correct. It seems to give the recipient a random UK number instead of my registered Mobile number, a different Number every time. But if I ring then the ID shown to them is correct. My mobile is with O2 Ireland. Can anybody tell me what is wrong?

Try this: Go to Tools>Options>IM & SMS>SMS. You can then set the Identify Me to either your Skype name or your mobile phone number.

Thanks ptainer for trying to help. But all of these things were done when I set my caller ID years ago. The problem still persists - even with my correct mobile number nominated as my caller ID a random UK number appears everytime I send an SMS from Skype. I rang my operator O2 and they told me, as I thought they would, that the problem is with Skype.

I only recently started having the same problem, over the Christmas holidays to be precise.
It was working fine and I sent SMSes with my mobile number correctly until around the 20th of December when it went south.
Problem is I regularly text with my girl and she's had about five different numbers send texts to her, instead of my mobile number and it's creeping her out the type of funny numbers she thinks I'm using.
Please rectify accordingly as this is a premium service.

The fact is that If your skype number is being sent to your carrier correctly (the message is being propogated correctly) but the caller ID is wrong then it's probably an issue with your provider not skype.(based on the idea that if one part is right why would the other be wrong)
In Australia (my country) the local telco limits the functionality of skype and still can't compete.
Microsoft just bought skype so I'm going to say with a big xbox powered budget they should be able to turn it around (it makes year on year losses) but then microsoft doesn't exactly have a good history doing this.
They should be offering support they are a telco after all.

This used to work correctly before but Skype has changed and the caller ID is botched up. This is particularly frustrating when a SMS is replied to with some random number and the sender thinks I've received it!!
I have unsuccessfully searched for a solution.
