Does Skype meet my RV needs?

I'm about to take a trip in my RV.  I'm Canadian and will be spending a few months in the U.S. and Mexico.   I have the simple free video call skype, but am wondering if the telephone North American skype package will meet my needs?   I'd need to be able to take it with me?   I find it a bit confusing as to how I would accomplish this.

I have an ASUS notebook, which I use for video calls.   Other than that I don't have any equipment in mind yet.   I am looking for a solution before I buy anything.

I will be in U.S.A and Mexico mostly calling Canada, but I am sure I will call Mexico and U.S.A as well.     What equipment would I need, and what skype package would I buy?   I suspect it would be North America skype.   Would there be additional charges for phone calls after the monthly bill?  Thanks again
