Stated and charged costs

[ Edited ]

I viewed my listing of individuals not in the USA.  I know their phone numbers were landlines, but they come up on my listing as mobile phones, why?  The cost increases because they are listed this way, when in fact they are not.  Example:  All phone numbers in Latvia that are land-lines begin with a "6", whereas all cell phones, i.e., mobile phones begin with "2"; thus dialing a number from the US - [edited for privacy] is a land-line, whereas dialing [edited for privacy] is a cell-phone.  Not quite the same thing with Germany, as I believe Germany has special routing/city/area code numbers for cell-phones only, as is indicated in your charge list.  Thus, why would a phone number in Würzburg when dialed, i.e., [edited for privacy]be listed as a cell-phone.  The 931 is the routing code assigned to Würzburg.

Pleas do not responde with the answer: it is the equipment they are using and not the type of phone service the individual, as I am sure your equipment and computers and software can distinguish between the two.

When I entered the LAND-LINE phone number of a friend in Manchester, UK it was likewise automatically posted on my account and in the "call center" page as a Mobile number. IT'S NOT!!!!! And I am not about to get ripped-off for additional charges for Skype switching calling methods for numbers!!

Found out how to change it by accident:

Open Skype on your computer, right click on the name of the Contact. Click on "Edit Contact". That will allow you to change the number's status to Home, Office, or Other.

Hi,

Number type is not determined how it is listed on Skype contact list or profile. Thus it doesn't matter if you put the number as Home, Office or other, charges are not affected by it.

If you are certain that you are calling landline number, but you are charged with mobile rates then contact customer service who can check it with the carrier and number provider. Skype doesn't decide on its own what type of number customer is calling, this information is given by number provider and carriers.
