You should be able to use Skype in all hotpots in Europe or World Wide it no problems. The main mistake people make is not to login properly.
You need to login after you selected your hotspot. Normally your laptop or smartphone or other device goes to the webbrowser to finalize the login. This means, a lot of hotspots require you to accept their rules and regulations before you actually are connected to the hotspot even the public ones at airports or hotels etc...
Just select "I agree" and then DO NOT LOG OFF but go to the skype program and make you call. I use it all the time. You can Google if you need a hotspot list for Europe, but in Europe they have also a system called HOMESPOT that allows members to use a wireless home WIFI connection from private persons too. Like in Belgium try the website www.telenet.be or Google for other countries. Good luck and enjoy your trip in Europe. I frequently fly between the US and Europe a few times a year...

I'm traveling to Ireland. I have skype mobile on my iPhone. So when I am in an area with wi-fi, and I am logged into skype do I have to pay for the wi-fi as well as my skype minutes? I'm just trying to figure this out!
Also if anyone can help me with this question.... I will need to make some calls (obviously if I can connect to wi-fi in Ireland) back to the USA. I currently have a monthly subscription to call family living in Australia (for unlimited calls/minutes). Would I just add a US subscription (since I will be in Ireland calling the US)? Or do I need to purchase the UK unlimited subscription? ....Or would it just be smart to purchase the (approx) $13.00 Worldwide subscription for one month?
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

You have two options or you buy a subscription so you are able to call the country of choice on a monthly basis, or you use your Skype Credit to call a phone number in a country. Remember only SKYPE to SKYPE calls are free. This means if you call from a laptop, PC or smartphone using the internet it is free to call another user on a Laptop Home computer or smartphone that has the Skype Software installed. Otherwise you will be charged. In my opinion you should check how often you are actually calling that country. Sometimes you better off without a subscription and pay as you go. That's how I use it. Still it is the best programm I know considering sound quality reliablility and price...

an imperfect solution:
1. try using the press release indicated [invalid URL] to locate the companies with which Skype is partnering.
2. use this [invalid URL] to see if one of the companies is listed and where (if there any) the hotspots are located. keep in mind that the skype's list of partners may be broader than the list in the above press release.
Hope this helps.
