skype camera not working on Samsung smart tv

I have just bought a brand new Samsung LED UN46D6500VF that came with a Samsung HD  camera CY-STC1100. Both were made in 2011. I have the TV connected to the internet via a wireless router D-Link DR-655. When we use the skype connection we can hear the other person but we cannot see them and they cannot see us. We can see ourselves on our TV  and they can see themselves on their TV but we cannot see each other. How do we correct this?  I tested the Sype connection on our personal computer that is connected via a cable to the router and we can see each other and everything works as it should.   Any ideas

I'm sorry to hear you are having problems - and I haven't come across this issue before.

If you are seeing a preview of your own camera when you try to make a call, this suggests that your camera is being recognised by the TV. However, it's worth trying this too:

In Skype, go to SETTINGS and select CHANGE PICTURE, and then VIDEO SNAPSHOT. You should see a preview of your camera. If you can, then your camera is working - and you can exit back to the menu by pressing the RETURN key on the remote.

Next, on your CONTACTS screen, you should see a contact called ECHO / SOUND TEST SERVICE. Can you try calling this. You will hear a message, then after a few moment you will be asked to speak (just say a few words). Don't press any buttons - after a few seconds, you should hear your own message played back to you before the call ends.

If you hear your own message back, that shows that your camera is working - at least for audio.

If both of these work, then it doesn't look like it's a problem with the camera.

Try an audio call (voice call) with one of your Skype contacts, to see if you can hear them and they can hear you.

Again, if that works, then it points to a problem other than the camera.

Let me know how things go with these tests, and I'll try to help further.

I tried wiring the TV directly to the router via an ethernet cable and not using the wireless connection and it still did not work

Is it possible to test the camera in a shop or anyone else who has a compatible TV? To rule out camerafailure?

It very much sounds like the camera is faulty. I would suggest returning the camera to the store where you purchased it, and asking for a replacement.

I did all that. I returned the camera and checked 2 other ones out from the store and the same problem occurred. I spent 45 minutes on the phone with samsung and they said the problem was with Skype. Is there another version of skype that can be loaded onto the TV other than the one that you get from Samsung . It is a 2.0 version. is skype working on a downlaod to fix this prevalent problem?

What version of firmware do you have installed? The latest is the 1022.4 (27 october)

I would suggest to delete your account on the TV, if possible, delete Skype app, reset the Tv... and start the TV system with a wired connection. It might be that your settings while using the wireless are still in memory of the TV.

So, start up wired with an clean TV systeem.

If thats doesnt work .... Maybe there is something wrong with your USB ports of the TV. If you tried several camera's i don't think there is something wrong with the camera.

Until now, i don't think there is something wrong with the Tv or the Skype camera.

Samsung suggests to reset after a upgrade firmware. They say, there is allways a change something goes wrong when downloading and installing firmware software.
