If you want see the whole conversation history on Skype installed on another PC then you must do the following.

Make sure that Skype is not running on your computer. Both the old and the new.

Go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %appdata%\skype and press Enter or the OK button. This will open a window with a Skype folder. Within this folder locate a subfolder with name corresponding to your Skype name. Open this folder. You will find there a file with name main.db. It may have just have a name “main” if your PC is setup to not show extensions for known file types but you will still see description “Data Base File” in the Type column. Copy this main.db file to any removable storage, like e.g. an USB flash drive or CD and transfer it to the corresponding folder on your other PC. You will now be able to see the whole call history from the old Skype installation on the new installation.

Hi, SG2, and welcome to the Community!

You may access your Skype account and sign on to place or receive calls from any computer, so the process is simply to download and install the Skype client software on your new computer, sign on, and you are good to go!  http://www.skype.com/go/getskype-full

Kind regards,

Elaine

Re: moving skype account to new computer

Hi, can I do a followup question? This will not move the history of the IMs, though, right? Because they are saved locally on the hard drive? I need to keep all the IMs, so how do I move those to the new computer? Thanks!

Re: moving skype account to new computer

If you install skype, then follow the directions above, it will get the IM history to your new laptop, which is stored locally. The friends list and account balance should show up when you log in.

If you no longer have access to Skype files on your old PC, then yes; you are out of luck.

Re: moving skype account to new computer

Hello, this might be confusing, I had to erase every trace of skype on my pc because of the wrong im appearance problem from skype 6.0, but I just learned how to replace my old chat history by replacing a file called main. However, when I replace it I can't see my recent chat history of today. Because of uninstalling skype a few times, now I have files named main, main(2), and main(3) in my recycling bin. All I want is my old and new ims together in one file, is that posibble?
