can online number receive SMS message?

I wondered why I wasn't receiving any texts from my online number! I certainly won't be renewing this service now. What's the point of being able to send messages to mobiles if you can't receive them?

Then is there a way to get a refund? It really should be more clearly marked out that an online number cannot recieve SMS messages. I have now wasted money on an online number that is absolutely of no use to me.

The only reason I want an online number is to recieve international text.  When will you have this feature set up?

Great... absolutely perfect. It doesn't say anything about this anywhere. And I just bought Skype credit to do this... I NEED to have texts sent to me. Wonderful. Now I guess I'll blindly send a text, hoping it got there with no way to make sure, and hoping they'll call me back if they even can if it even sent. There's no way to know. Thanks Skype. Remember when Skype was free? Yeah... glad to see they became worth purchasing from...

If my outgoing number is my cell phone and I send a text from Skype, will a reply go to my cell phone?  Thanks.

I've been able to receive text to voice SMS on my UK Skype number too.

And if I've not been about to answer the call, then I could call 00448456021111 and hear any text messages I've received. 

This is a BT service and the call costs the 0845 charge.

This is just to add my request that SMS messages should be able to be received by online skype phone numbers. It's a pain to only be able to receive them via BT's text-to-speech service.

Or is it possible to switch that service off and then receive texts?

Why is it that Google Voice can send and receive text messages and skype cannot?  When does skype intend to make available text messaging (both outgoing and incoming)?  This information would be very helpful for you customers.  As it stands now I have to give people my Google Voice number to receive text messages and I am wondering what exactly I am paying skype for.
