Skype for google TV [ Edited ]

Absolutely... I concur... we need Skype on Google TV asap... can't be that big of deal. I don't like the Logitech version...too limiting.

I am waiting too. But, the new Android 3.1 (honeycomb) update with the android market still does not support Skype on the Sony internet TV platform.

Is this being listened by the appropriate folks at Sony/Google/Skype???

i too am waiting for this.. also want logitech revue to allow using cheaper webcams.. the 150 dollars for a webcam is crazzy.. so need google tv with skype and allow any webcam. a humble request here.

I am looking for these capabilities too on the Logitech revue ?  When will this be available ?  Are there any hacks that would enable the Android Phone version of Skype to run on GTV ?

I'm curious to know as well.  I understand we're talking about a standard OS on a unique platform, but I see no indication that Skype (newly owned by Microsoft) is planning on developing on this platform.  I'm curious as to whether Skype is going to continue development on the AndroidOS/iOS for devices like the Revue or if its going to be tailored to their newfound proprietor's platform (Windows).

Skype is an amazing tool.  I would hate to have to abandon it for GTalk.

In theory you should be able to do it here. http://gtvhacker.com/index.php/Steps_to_get_root. It's a hardware hack though. You'll need an understanding of UART communications and will need to physically solder something to the board inside the device. You'll also need a brand new virgin release of the device due to updates that disable UART communications. I might try this out when I get mine. $100 though is tough to swallow.

Oh Christmas. I forgot that Skype was taken over by the Borg. And here I was hoping my Google TV (Logitech Revue) would someday soon work with Skype.  Oh well, picture me buying another Logitech Revue to send to my family so we can use Logitech Vid (which is supported).

But, on the off-chance that there is still a sliver of whatever-it-takes spirit remaining at Skype, Please, please make an app that will work with Google TV.
