I bought the Samsung/Skype camera (Model VG-STC2000, 2012 year) for my Samsung Smart TV(Model UN60D7000, 2011 year) and installed the latest available from Samsung Apps, Skype software.
The problem I am having is that there appears to be no way to test the live video portion of the Skype software similar to the live audio test included in the Skype software. In addition, I don't seem to be able to video call out to another party. When I hit the Video Call button it goes to "Call Failed" almost immediately. I was able to successfully connect to another party but only after they called me from their computer. It worked fine after that. The address appears to be correct.
Skype, can you help me solve these problems? Samsung says that they have no info on this and the camera and software app are all Skype responsibility.
Again the problems are:
1. How can I test the live video portion of the software to ensure it is functioning properly?
2. Why can't I initiate a video call from my TV and connect successfully with another party?
By the way the camera, has very good picture quality.
First of all, I'm afraid that there is no 'video test' number for Skype calls at the moment. The best way of testing your video is to try calling one of your Skype contacts.
It might be worth asking one of your friends to call you, to see if you can answer the call and switch your video on. If this works properly, then that would suggest your camera is working properly for both audio and video.
To call one of your contacts, the person should appear in your CONTACTS list, and they should be showing as online (with a green round Skype logo mark next to their name). This means they are ONLINE. Select the VIDEO CALL option. It should work, if it worked when your contact called you.

I am having same problem. Sometimes I am not getting video from other party but If I log in into my computer I can see their video.
Another problem is if I call on mobile(having skype), call got disconnected after 1 ring. This problem is also random.

I have also procured a samsung smart TV with a VG-STC2000 samsung camera. While making a skype video call I recd the following feedback:
The video quality is excellent but audio is cracking. The clarity of audio is very poor despite the audio test was fantastic. I tried this with wireless connection/ wired connection in the same lan and outside my lan too. I am unable to figure out the reason. Can someone resolve my problem?

I have the same TV model - although i can connect, see video and hear sound. both the sound and video are extreamly poor. my TV is hard wired into my interenet connection & for some reason there I only have a single red bar for signal strength.
how do i fix this and get my video quality & sound to work correctly?

Sorry to hear you are having problems.
Can you please confirm a few things:
1. You cannot receive video or send video?
2. Which device are you calling on the other end?
3. Can you make the same call to the same contact on another device?
Thanks. We are skyping a laptop computer that works with our home computer. We RECEIVE video, but our video cannot send. The camera blue light is on and the other person can HEAR us.
